Leaping to Creative Conqlusions: BOOM + Quantum Theatre

BOOM Creative Named as Messaging Partners to Quantum Theatre

BOOM proudly announces its new role as creative services consultants and advertising agency of record to Quantum Theatre as they launch their 2018 season.

Quantum Theatre is a genre-breaking theater company curated by artistic director Karla Boos, that mounts experimental productions in non-traditional spaces throughout the Pittsburgh area. It stages Shakespearean classics, world premieres, audience-immersive contemporary plays and chamber operas in such diverse locations as Pittsburgh Brewing, Allegheny Cemetery, The Pittsburgh Zoo, the Frick Art & Historical Center, schools, pools and even an abandoned porn palace.

Wanting to make their image more consistent and accessible to a wider potential audience, Quantum Theatre called upon BOOM to update the overall branding and marketing efforts. A new design hierarchy was developed and applied to all print and digital advertising, connecting the distinctive red “Q” logo directly to the promotional imagery for each show – and giving a greater emphasis to the unique location-specific aspect of their productions with the descriptive “Theater that moves you.” tagline.

“BOOM is honored to be partners with such a groundbreaking cultural juggernaut,” said BOOM Creative Director Robert Nyde Handley. “and we’re thrilled to be along for the ride.”

2018 sees the “Incubator for the amazing” theater mounting three productions starting in September; The world premiere of Chatterton appearing in the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts, directed by Karla Boos and staged in Pittsburgh’s oldest churchyard – Trinity Cathedral, and featuring intermission dinners by weekly guest celebrity chefs.

February 2019 sees E.M. Lewis’ provocative The Gun Show as directed by Sheila McKenna, and wrapping up the season in May with a version of King Lear set against the dramatic backdrop of Pittsburgh’s steel town past at Carrie Furnaces in Swissvale.

BOOM designed the season’s show posters and continues to create promotional materials to evoke the tone and tie-together the Quantum-ness of all three productions.

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with BOOM.” Says Quantum Theatre managing director Stewart Urist. “Their team is the perfect fit for our iconoclastic brand of theatre. BOOM’s work is exceptional, showcasing the unique character of each of our works while honoring the artistic spirit which ties them together.

Most of all, we value the spirit of partnership and personal attention they have brought to our collaboration. BOOM’s team has engaged deeply with our season, taking the time to understand the nuance of our work and distill a clear message. In a moment where we are creating some of our most exciting projects to-date it’s great to have an agency as immersed as BOOM by our side.”
