About This Project

When the award-winning Erie Brewing Company decided to pair up with Edinboro’s beloved John’s Wildwood Pizzeria to create a unique brewpub experience, they contacted BOOM to help craft their unified brand and marketing efforts.

The new venue delivers the simple, but perfect idea of “craft beer meets craft pizza” and features a state-of-the-art glass-walled brewery, custom tasting tables, a central fireplace gathering area, a pizza parlor, and an expansive patio facing Lake Erie.

Both of the partners are individually recognized as powerhouse brands in the region, so the new combined venture needed to strike a careful balance – leveraging the established equity of both, while creating a streamlined association context between the two. The name “Pub & Pie” was created to achieve this brand counterpoise – and was supported by playful print, outdoor, radio and television advertising, all playing off the concept of “a match made in Erie.”

The customer response has been threw the roof – with long-time fans of Erie Brewing’s delicious selection of beers discovering the legendary taste of John’s WIldwood Pizza – and vice versa. The end result? Twice the awesome.
